Initial Injury reaction
When I first rolled my ankle in a ditch way back in early January (5/1/24), apart from the ow that really hurt. The next reaction is oh heck what have i done. The fact that I was able to stand up again and walk very slowly the last 300 metres home made me think it's not that bad, I can still weight bear. The real reaction to the injury happened when we went to A&E back in Auckland on Friday (6th Jan), when they said you have broken your ankle. Well, there goes my running event plans for the year as I had planned to complete in my 2nd Ultra at the Trail Trilogy event in September and compete in my 5th Auckland Marathon to get my Roadster status in the Marathon distance. Once I had been sorted with a Moonboot and given a plan ahead which included starting Physio for the injury.
